What’s Your Version of This? + Inspiration + My Other Bestie | 3.20.25

SO GLAD YOU’RE HERE :-)

Hello Beautiful,

Can you believe we’re already halfway through March? I hope this month has been treating you kindly and that it’s bringing you moments of joy, clarity, and whatever it is you’ve been needing lately.

I wanted to share something personal with you today.

Last year, I made a goal: I wanted to learn how to swim.

Technically, I can swim. Sort of. If I’m in a pool, I’d manage. But the goal wasn’t just to stay afloat, it was to feel comfortable in the water. To move through it with ease. To trust myself in any situation.

Because here’s the thing: I’ve almost drowned TWICE. Both times happened in my late teens, and both times stuck with me. I wouldn’t say I’m afraid of water, I actually love being around it. But I do know that if I were in a real emergency, without a life vest, I’d probably panic. And I’m not sure I’d get a THIRD chance.

So while I didn’t hit my 2024 goal in the way I imagined, I did something that mattered: I signed up for a swim class this month. I’ve had two sessions so far. I still feel a bit clumsy and unsure, but I’m doing it. I’m showing up. I’m learning to breathe, to move, and to slowly trust myself again.

I’ll keep going until I feel solid. Until I know I can handle myself in any situation. Rome wasn’t built in a day, right?

This has me thinking, what’s YOUR version of this?

What’s something you’re working toward? A fear you're slowly trying to face? A part of yourself you want to feel stronger in?

Maybe it's something you've put off, or something that's always lingered quietly in the background. But deep down, you know it’s time to do something about it—even if it’s just a small step.

So... what are you doing TODAY to move in that direction?

You don’t have to be fearless. You don’t have to be ready. You just have to begin.

And I truly believe, that’s what really counts.

CONVERSATION WITH A GIRLFRIEND

My Other Bestie

The other day I was chatting with a girlfriend about how people name their cars, and I admitted that yes, I totally name my plants too. And the mannequin in my house. And some of the artwork (they have personalities, okay?). Clearly, we had a little too much free time on our hands because the convo spiraled into: What would I name my camera? And more importantly… what would her personality be like?

Honestly? She’d be my artsy, low-key dramatic bestie.

She lives for a moody shadow, gets way too excited about interesting light, and definitely has a thing for close-ups. Like, girl wants to zoom into your soul. But she’s not overbearing about it, just quietly intense. She notices the details most people miss and somehow turns chaos into something kind of poetic.

She’s the one who makes everyone feel comfortable but doesn’t sugarcoat a thing. You show up as you are, and she’s like, “Perfect. Let’s roll.” She’s chill but never boring, and she has an uncanny ability to bring out people’s realest moments without saying a word.

Basically, she’s the friend who gets you, doesn’t ask you to perform, and still somehow makes you look like a damn icon.

Now I just need to actually name her. Open to suggestions.

XX, AMY
