3 Things Thursday - June 15th

Hello Beautiful Soul,

Welcome to this week's 3 Things Thursday where I share updates, info about photography, my life, and latest fun findings!

So here goes…

1. Do not go Pinterest crazy before your shoot

Curating inspiration from Pinterest isn’t a bad thing at all, but please remember that what you see can’t always be replicated because everyone is an individual and we all move differently.

When pinning inspiration for your photo shoot from Pinterest, please think about things like hair and makeup looks, the style/vibe of the image, and poses. Your inspiration photos also does not need to be boudoir based. Pin what you find beautiful and the vibe you'd like for your images.

If you are interested in your version of a photo that I've done here at the studio in New Hope, PA, I can certainly do that for you.

Just keep in mind, all bodies are different so you can't expect the exact same result as a different client, but I can surely make it customized to you. Rather than using Pinterest, go to my Instagram feed and take a screenshot of all images you like.

2. Recommended item for your shoot

Looking for an item to purchase for your shoot? This week's recommendation is the stunning robes by Kim and Ono Kimono. I've photographed a number of women in their robes, from the long Charmeuse robes, long luxurious silk robes, to their kimono wraps.

This item allows you to reveal as much as you'd like. You'll love it so much, you'll be wearing it around the house or outside after your shoot. PS, no I'm not affiliated with the company. I just adore their products.

I also admire the story of this company. Here's some information about the founders…

"Since the beginning, our kimonos have been stitched together using a common thread: family. For 30 years, the business has remained family owned and operated. Launching first as a small boutique in Chinatown under the name Old Shanghai, to its recent transformation into KIM+ONO, the business has evolved and grown into the apparel brand it is today.

Renee and Tiffany, the sister duo now behind the brand, were first allured by kimonos as little girls. Together with their parents, they spent weeks visiting silk villages, meeting with vendors, artisans, and other craftsmen who have been preserving the art of kimonos for generations.

As the sisters grew older, they became more involved in the family business, eventually taking it over in 2004. Since then, Renee and Tiffany continue to infuse a modern aesthetic, paired with timeless techniques, to craft beautiful, everyday kimonos."

3. Awesome podcast

I recently came across the most fascinating podcast! Wiser Than Me with Julia Louis-Dreyfus

I love hearing and learning from older women, so this podcast was pure perfection. Make time to check it out!

Here's their description:

“Julia Louis-Dreyfus wants to know why the hell we don’t hear more from older women, so she’s sitting down with Jane Fonda, Carol Burnett, Amy Tan, Diane von Furstenberg, Isabel Allende and Fran Lebowitz (and more!) to get schooled in how to live a full and meaningful life. Join the Emmy award winning-est actress of all time on her first-ever podcast where each week she has funny, touching, personal conversations with unforgettable women who are always WISER THAN ME™.”

I hope you enjoyed this week's 3 Things Thursday, and I'm excited to share many more with you in the coming months. As always, I'm so grateful for your support and appreciate your readership!

With love—

Amy
